Hailing from Indiana Omar Apollo is an extremely talented songwriter, singer and musician who is rapidly building a fanbase with each new track. Last time around, we were embracing the solemner side of life, the side where your car lets you down and you really just want to go home in ‘brakelights’. This week, however, we’re hearing a notably more upbeat side to young Apollo. Featuring the slick rhymes of fellow Indianan Drayco Mccoy (points for pun), ‘Algo’ is a bright, soulful track with disco-tinged guitars, paced backbeats, smooth melodies and a gorgeous Spanish verse showcasing the songwriter’s Hispanic roots. If he keeps this quality, then Omar Apollo has a very bright future ahead, but you knew that already. - HT
